Welcome to our web site and the Cabbage Patch Kids Fantasy Land that we have created.

We are Joe and Pat Prosey of Leonardtown, Maryland and have been collecting Cabbage Patch Kids since 1985.  It all started with Meg, (our first Coleco girl) and Kevin, (our first Coleco boy).

Kevin, (with his dad’s help) has written many articles about his adventures in the Cabbage Patch Newsletters and gained notoriety. In 1993, Kevin became one of the few Kids hand signed in a special way by Xavier Roberts, the creator of the Kids.

In 1986, our collection started growing in leaps and bounds as we traveled from state to state visiting every toy store that we could find. It was not until 1988 that we discovered the Original Kids on our first trip to Babyland General Hospital, the home of the Cabbage Patch Kids.

By 1989, our collection amounted to over 500 Kids and we decided that it should be called something. The name we choose was MAGIC CRYSTAL VALLEY, Museum History. In January of 1991 we also opened a store using the same name.

By December 1993, we had adopted 2,000 Cabbage Patch Kids for our private collection and hundreds of memorabilia pieces. Later that year we were approached by O.A.A., the licensee of Cabbage Patch Kids to discuss becoming an adoption center for the Original Cabbage Patch Kids. We had talked to the O.A.A. staff and Xavier Roberts many times and they all were aware of our collection and store. On September 10, 1994, we opened the only Official Cabbage Patch Kids Adoption Center in Maryland.

In January 1995, our collection had reached 2,500 Kids and was featured on Fox’s TV show FX Collectibles from New York.  Later that year we were featured on 13 WJZ-TV from Baltimore, Maryland. On April 1, 1995, we held our first adoption event in the store. It was so successful that we made a decision to design our own log building to accommodate our collection and store all in one place. Until this time the collection was at our house and the store was in a shopping center.

Our collection reached 3,000 Kids and close to a thousand pieces of memorabilia by January 1997. We were again featured on the Fox’s FX Collectibles show this time in our partially completed building. It took two more years of construction and arranging to complete our dream.

On February 14,1999, we opened the doors to our new building and collection, now called the museum. In attendance for this event were our closest C.P.K. friends and a member of the O.A.A. staff. Now our collection had reached 3,500 kids and over a thousand memorabilia items.

In June of 1999, we held our first C.P.K. collectors event and called it SUMMER ADVENTURE. It was held in connection with O.A.A. and a gathering arranged by a C.P.K. collector.

August 1,2 and 3, 2003 we held our second event SUMMER ADVENTURE II and plan to hold this event each year from now on Summer Adventure 2 Pictures. Our collection now has surpassed 4,000 Kids and thousands of memorabilia pieces.

The Kids hope you can visit us sometime.

UNTIL THEN, KEEP THE LOVE ALIVE!
